Hampton Court, Herefordshire: is a castle on the meadows of the river Lugg, backed by a steep wooded escarpment and surrounded by woodland and grounds of 1,000 acres. Founded by King Henry in the early 15th century the castle has been completely restored. Stockton Bury Gardens, Kimbolton: Visit the 4-acre gardens at Stockton Bury, near Leominster, Hereford and you’ll be greeted by impressive collections of plants, many rare and unusual that thrive on the heavy clay soil. The garden, set amongst medieval farm buildings, offers a working kitchen garden, pigeon house, tithe barn (which is now a restaurant) grotto, cider press, and more.... Westonbury Mill Water Gardens, Pembridge: You will find us in the beautiful and peaceful Welsh Marches close to the historic half timbered village of Pembridge.The two acre garden is laid out around a tangle of streams and ponds behind an old corn mill. Featured in several magazines and on Gardeners World. Staunton Park Gardens, Herefordshire: On the edge of the Black and White village Trail these gardens offer visitors 10 acres to explore. At spring time the extensive rhododendron groves dominate the views to the lake. The rose garden, behind its impressive yew hedge, and the many mixed borders planted within the last 5 years continue to delight well into September.
Lower Hope Gardens.Privately owned by Mr and Mrs Clive Richards. The gardens, in Ullingswick, Herefordshire are open to the public for the National Garden Scheme and other charities each year.The well tended gardens span 5 acres facing South and West consisting of herbaceous borders, rose walks, laburnum tunnel, Mediterranean and bog gardens. Visitors can take a botanical stroll through the lime tree walk to the wildlife pond, landscaped with wild flowers and abundant in wildlife. Afternoon teas are served in the Old Hop Kiln in a sheltered courtyard. Delicious locally sourced cakes are served with a refreshing cup of tea and farm grown apple juice. www.lowerhopefarms.co.uk
Ivy Croft Gardens. The garden was started in 1997. The cottage is surrounded by formal beds filled with a wide range of plants. Paths lead away from the cottage into less formal areas, set in open grassland. Plantings of willows, grasses, ferns and snowdrops surround the ecological water treatment system and seasonal pond. Mixed borders lead to a young perry pear orchard, a vegetable garden surrounded by trained fruit trees and an embrionic ‘natural wood’. Moors Meadow Gardens and Nursery . An intriguing and eclectic garden, full of appeal to the true plantsman. The seven-acre organic hillside site offers superb views over the Kyre Valley and comprises a variety of environments rich in unusual and exotic plants.
