Knighton Town Crier Festival

A traditional cry has been heard loud and clear from the Town for the past six years. as crowds gather for an unusual competition aiming to find the nation's best Town Crier.
The criers travel the length and breadth of Britain for the chance to take part and be crowned the winner

Up to twenty Town Criers in full costume will gather at Knighton Church Hall on Saturday 22nd August 2009 for the annual 'Welsh Border Open' competition. They will proceed down Broad Street led by Knighton's host Town Crier and Knighton Town Silver Band. This year, after the first heat telling everyone about where they come from, they will be crying about 'The Red Kite', the emblem for Powys.
