Up to twenty Town Criers in full costume will gather at Knighton Church Hall on Saturday 22nd August 2009 for the annual 'Welsh Border Open' competition. They will proceed down Broad Street led by Knighton's host Town Crier and Knighton Town Silver Band. This year, after the first heat telling everyone about where they come from, they will be crying about 'The Red Kite', the emblem for Powys.
